The baby teeth begin falling out approximately one month after coming through. Puppies will typically start losing their baby teeth and getting their adult teeth at around four months of age.

At only 3 months of age a puppy loses his first set. They are usually swallowed. Unlike in humans the roots of the puppy teeth are reabsorbed back into the gum and then the adult tooth pushes what s left of the tooth out as it erupts from the gum. A puppy s baby teeth start coming in between 2 and 4 weeks of age and are completely grown in by 5 or 6 weeks.

The roots are dissolved and reabsorbed into the jaws freeing the teeth from the gums so they become loose and drop out.

By the time your dog is about 6 months old he or she should have all 48 adult teeth. By the age of 7 8 months your puppy should have grown all of their adult teeth if their not all there yet try not to worry too much. Puppies develop and lose this set of baby teeth just like humans do. These teeth sometimes known as milk teeth or needle teeth and referred to as deciduous teeth by vets eventually give way to permanent adult teeth.
