The felv vaccine is recommended as core for kittens.

Does kittens need vaccinations. Kittens can start their vaccinations from nine weeks old and will need a second set of injections usually 2 4 weeks after their initial set to complete their course. After this kittens and cats usually need booster vaccinations every twelve months. Kittens are vaccinated once every three to four weeks until they reach 16 weeks of age or older. Calicivirus and rhinotracheitis are common feline viruses know to cause upper respiratory infections in cats.

The initial vaccination series consists of two doses three to four weeks apart followed by revaccination one year later for all pet cats. If you have kittens or puppies the first round of vaccinations usually two or three vaccines are given at around six to eight weeks old. However while modern day vaccines are incredibly safe and reliable like any vaccine they can occasionally make your pet feel quite poorly for 24 hours or so. Your kitten should be vaccinated against the serious core diseases as soon as they are old enough.

Kittens should start getting vaccinations when they are 6 to 8 weeks old until they are about 16 weeks old. This is a core vaccine considered essential for all kittens. The vast majority of cats and kittens will be fine following vaccinations. All kittens and adult cats should be vaccinated against rabies.

The first vaccinations should be given to kittens from around eight to nine weeks of age. Then they must be boostered a year latyer. This is because the antibodies in the mother s breast milk can interfere with the vaccinations. Some cats will get small nodules where they have been vaccinated and this may cause them a little pain.

These kitten vaccinations will protect them as they re growing and with boosters throughout their adulthood. Rabies is the other core kitten vaccination. Fvrcp stands for feline viral rhinotracheitis calicivirus and panleukopenia. Too late and kittens will be left susceptible to infection.

To help protect kittens they ll need two sets of vaccinations to get them started. By getting them vaccinated you are reducing the risk of them falling seriously ill. Most vaccinations are best given to your kitten when they are young and your vet will help you put together a vaccination schedule. Once a kitten is weaned and home with you they need their own protection.

The final vaccine however should not be given before your pet turns sixteen weeks. The shots come in a series every 3 to 4.
