At six months of age your kitten may look like a little adult but that doesn t mean it has reached its adult size the basic rule of thumb is that the average sized cat will gain about 1 pound a month so at six months of age your kitten should weigh about 6 pounds with a lanky torso and legs.

Do kittens lose teeth at 6 months. By 5 months all four canine teeth are in place. Around three weeks of age their kitten teeth will begin to erupt. If the teeth do not fall out by the time the kitten is about six months of age a veterinarian may recommend they be extracted when the kitten gets spayed or neutered. At 6 to 7 months old all of your kitten s baby teeth normally will have been replaced by 30 permanent teeth. Around 4 7 months of age permanent adult teeth will start replacing the baby teeth.

The teething period starts when kittens are around two to three weeks old and continues for several months until all of the adult teeth have grown in at the age of six to seven months. By the time a kitten reaches six to seven months. Their kitten teeth also referred to as primary milk or deciduous teeth and then their permanent or adult teeth. Long before their first birthday your growing kitten should have 30 permanent teeth.

Kittens are born without visible teeth. By 6 months all 10 premolars are in place. You may never even see the teeth as your kitten loses them as they are often lost during mealtime or through play. By four months of age all of their 26 primary teeth should be visible.
